POSITION SUMMARY
The Purchasing Associate will negotiate with vendors for the purchase of materials, supplies, equipment, and services used for AGParts Worldwide, Inc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Determine inventory quantities are sufficient for needs, ordering more materials when necessary.
- Negotiates with vendors for goods and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee.
- Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.
- Compare suppliers’ invoices with bids and purchase orders to verify accuracy.
- Track the status of requisitions, contracts, and orders.
- Check shipments when they arrive to ensure that orders have been filled correctly and that goods meet specifications.
- Contact suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems.
- Compare prices, specifications, and delivery dates to determine the best bid among potential suppliers.
- Respond to customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations.
- Monitor changes affecting supply and demand, tracking market conditions, price trends, or future markets.
- Study sales records and inventory levels or current stock to develop strategic purchasing programs that facilitate continued access to supplies.
- Research and evaluate suppliers, based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier’s reputation and history.
- Confer with staff, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action.
- Monitor and follow applicable laws and regulations organizational and governmental affecting purchases.
- Arrange shipments including the payment of duty and freight charges.

- Perform other related duties as required.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Organizational skills for proficient work.
- Ability to communicate professionally and proficiently with people in the company and external contacts.
- Solid decision making and analytical skills.
- Negotiating skills.
- Must be adaptable and be able to consistently deal with ever-changing conditions.
- Must conduct self in a professional manner at all times with personnel and customers.
- Driven and able to take initiative.
- Math skills and basic accounting knowledge is a plus.
