Position Summary
Provide full diagnostic assessment and mental health services for adults and/or children presented to determine the need for mental health services based on medical necessity and provide therapeutic clinical care using a person centered planning process. When necessary, and as credentialed, the Outpatient Therapist/Limited Licensed Psychologist will perform psychological testing to determine guardianship, diagnosis and recommend appropriate treatment.
Essential Functions
- Assess and diagnose mental health and/or developmental disabilities and substance abuse disorders in adults and adolescents and children
- Complete functional assessments as required using CAFAS/PECFAS or LOCUS at the time of intake and quarterly thereafter and at the time of discharge.
- Develop and individual plan of service using a person centered planning process
- Identify Integrated Treatment for consumers using substances
- Provide individual and family therapy services for adults, adolescents, and children
- Identify and manage crisis situations; provide crisis intervention therapy
- Monitor consumer’s activities, identify consumers who may be or are at risk for functional deterioration
- Make the necessary and appropriate referrals for identified needs and follow-up on status of the referral
- Communicate effectively, clearly, and frequently with other professionals, guardians, natural caregivers, and community to ensure clear understanding of consumer needs, progress, and success
- Prepares and submits Quarterly Reports
- Serve as after hours on-call for outpatient services as necessary
Job Requirements
Minimum Education
- Master’s degree or higher in social work, psychology or counseling from an accredited college or university
- Course work or practicum in individual therapy
- Course work specific to mental health disabilities and developmental disabilities
Minimum Experience
- One (1) year of experience working in the field of mental health
Required Licenses/Certifications
- Active clinical license (LLPC, LPC, LLMSW, LMSW, LLP, or LP) in the state of Michigan
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Experience and knowledge of common illnesses, disease, disabilities, injuries
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, and laws of their clinical profession (health education, interviewing, and counseling techniques)
- Requires basic skill level working with Microsoft Office and office equipment.
- Ability to work in an office and in community settings in Jackson County
- Ability to travel to community locations and other offices
Preferred Qualifications
- Course work and/or experience in psychological testing
- Course work and/or experience with substance abuse including diagnosis and treatment
- Experience in providing TF-CBT
- Experience with telehealth
- Play Therapy Certification
- CAADC Certification
Licensing Supervision offered to employees in this position if needed.
