Job Essentials
Maintains caseload while orienting and training new employees, providing continuing education and in-services to staff, and instructing and supervising staff members. Facilitates role development and professional growth.
Identifies staffing needs and oversees recruiting, hiring, assists with terminating, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations.
Oversees scheduling to maintain adequate services, and ensure individual and team productivity. Responsible for employee engagement initiatives within area of scope.
Provides leadership to staff in setting standards for patient care and identifying resources to meet patient needs. Assists in establishing accountabilities for job performance and evaluation. Ensures that each team member complies with hospital policies and procedures, and third party regulatory requirements.
Assists with managing operating budget for area of responsibility.
Performs technically accurate, electroencephalographic (brain wave) testing that is free from electrical disturbances (artifacts) that may cause unreliable studies. Collects and documents data pertinent to the interpretation of test results, including all remarkable events and relays concerns to physicians.Provides and facilitates patient/family education by reviewing medical records and interviewing patients to obtain pertinent history and will explain testing procedures. Documents patient response to teaching/instruction and follows through to obtain any additional information required.
Maintains equipment and troubleshoots malfunctions (hardware and software) to ensure proper performance. Arranges for timely repair, engineering safety inspections, and calibration per manufacturer recommendations. Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe environment in preparation for patient care.
Maintains documentation for each patient in a complete, thorough, appropriate and timely manner, according to regulatory, hospital, department and team requirements. Ensures provision of appropriate services and appropriate documentation from team members. Ensures completion of billing forms for tests in an accurate and timely manner for proper payment and reimbursement.
Provides clinical expertise by participating, coordinating, developing and implementing clinical projects/assignments in EEG. Responsible to implement standardization of department protocols, policies, and procedures for a proactive approach to patient diagnostic testing per evidence-based practice and ASET competencies and standards. Ensures clinical quality of services provided by team members.
Promotes appropriate and consistent interaction and communication among team members and other professionals. Promotes effective working relationships among staff to facilitate achieving goals and objectives.
Maintain collaborative relationships with referring physicians. Informs physicians concerning patient progress. Acts as a resource to physicians.
Minimum Qualifications
Current Registered EEG Tech certification.
Current BLS certification for healthcare professionals.
Four years of clinical EEG experience.
Excellent skills using diagnostic equipment and computer systems.
Experience teaching, mentoring, and instructing others.
Knowledge of mandatory, Joint Commission, state and federal regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
Supervisory experience.
Experience in managing healthcare-related business operation, including budgeting, personnel management, billing process, compliance, quality, and accreditation.
