POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the preparing and/or finishing of product builds for the Mechanical department prior to quality control review or test. All work submitted to QC must be in accordance with IPC-610 Class 2 standards unless otherwise specified. Work may include auditing of kits from Pep/Insert.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Follow weekly build/ship and production schedule for the department via immediate supervisor/team lead and inform immediate supervisor/team lead if schedule will not be met.
- Prepare the customer fixtures for press fit.
- Finish the buildup of circuit boards from touch up according to specifications.
- May crimp various cable assemblies.
- Ensures proper labeling of circuit boards prior to sending to quality control or testing.
- Inform supervisor or lead of any issues found on in-coming boards to get direction on how to solve or how to fix the problem.
- Audits kits from Prep/Insert to ensure the kit includes the right customer approved components and count is correct. Audit includes reviewing checklist, BOM, product information sheet to see if there are any changes from previous builds or change in instructions or information for New Product In (NPI).
- Know how to accurately perform kit audits which includes component verification, quantities, manufacturer, approved substitutes.
- Manual Arbor Press/Janome JP-1004 Automated Press-fit machine -Know which machine is to be used for press-fit by following Doc pack, check list and/or customer instructions.
- Able to turn on the Janome JP-1004 and run the programs already made for specific tasks.
- Create new programs for Janome JP-1004 Press-Fit machine - Under supervision, associate will learn how to create programs to be used on current/new builds.
- Universal Fixture prepping for press-fit - Associate has been trained and is able to create a press-fit fixture using the universal fixture for press-fitting components
- Training - Associate is able to train (co-workers) up to Assembler I
- May perform potting on projects as specified in doc packs.
- Follow ESD procedures.
- Ensure Production area is clean and maintained.
- Ensure you have proper documentation and indicate to supervisor if training is needed.
- Redline and communicate any documentation discrepancies to immediate supervisor.
- Communicate any quality issues to immediate supervisor within fifteen (15) minutes of finding.
- Only use equipment for which you have been certified to operate. Inform immediate supervisor if training is inadequate or needed to ensure proper training/ certification.
- Keep safety stock of all production consumables and order supplies as needed through immediate supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Act as a member of the Mechanical Assembler team and attend and actively participate in requested meetings.
- Assist in training other co-workers on various jobs as requested.
- Must follow all safety requirements, promptly report safety accidents and illnesses, and report potential safety issues, concerns and situations to supervisor or lead.
- Follow chemical and MSDS procedures.
- Stay abreast of current industry technology, trends and knowledge and provide to the Company by sharing this information with the Company.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (5+) years established work experience, preferably in a manufacturing or computer component environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to establish and maintain positive and effective communications with other team members, customers, vendors and other third parties.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to read and comprehend assembly and build instructions and other written material.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Must be able to learn and work with LEAN working methods and processes.
- Must comply with standards set by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and be free from federal warrants and must not be on any Federal watch list.
- Ability to learn and follow ISO 9000 process.
- Familiar with computers, MS Office-Word, Excel, and ability to learn and utilize other Company software and computers.
- Supervisory experience desire.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds.
- Frequent use of hands and repetitive motion tasks.
- Must be able to work at computer or workstation for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to see and accurately delineate between various colors.
- Ability to see and identify very small computer components.
