Job Title: Category Manager
Purpose:
- Manage $100 million per year in supply chain procurement for corporate requirements
- Issue contractual commitments and procure design-build, construction, equipment, software, engineering services, commodities, etc.
- Determine best total cost of ownership
- Ensure quality, schedule compliance, and meeting end user requirements
- Develop contract strategies and models
- Manage inventory levels
- Conduct negotiations
- Manage supplier relationships and performance
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop negotiation strategies for complex, multi-million dollar contracts
- Work with legal team on contract protections
- Conduct negotiations for optimal business results
- Perform market and financial analysis to determine supplier/contract risk; mitigate risks
- Analyze and resolve claims and disputes
- Manage end-to-end supply chain process
- Evaluate supply sources and product requirements
- Identify new sources of supply and products/technologies
- Establish and maintain ethical supplier relationships
- Support capital projects by developing contracting strategy, project plan, etc.
- Analyze and set inventory levels while reducing carrying costs
- Serve as category expert - know market, trends, spend, performance
- Act as primary supplier liaison
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, supply chain etc. or 5+ years experience
- 2+ years logistics/materials/services buying experience
- Supply chain and market knowledge
- Basic business law/commercial terms/legal knowledge
Preferred Qualifications:
- Electric/Gas Utility supply chain experience
- Supply Chain certifications (CPM, CPSM)
- Lean/Six Sigma/process improvement skill
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills
- Microsoft Office and databases
- Problem-solving skills
- Customer service skills
- Project management skills
Work Conditions:
- Hybrid in-office/remote
