Job Description:
The Studio Monitor will provide assistance to students and monitor the 10th floor studio areas, helping with student project/material needs and access to all available tools and resources. This position will require direct assistance to students, with the use of a variety of tools; from hand and power tools, sewing, and a variety of 3D software/printers.
Monitors will also complete day to day restocking of consumables and assigned tasks to improve shop efficiency, storage, and overall workflow.
Responsibilities:
Monitor 10th floor shop and lab spaces. Unlock select tools for posted shop hours.
Assist in tool set up for a variety of processes.
Provide safety information and assistance for potentially unsafe tasks or operations.
Help students evaluate realization steps and building methods.
Provide first aid resources and contact public safety during emergency situations.
Assist students with accessing various services and material resources.
Complete day to day restocking.
Work through checklist items to help improve floor efficiency, organization and workflow.
Listen to student project needs and provide potential solutions and guidance.
Other responsibilities as assigned by supervising manager.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Positive professional attitude
Experience working in a shop environment
Comfortable with hand and power tools, design software, and 3D additive and subtractive technologies
Ability to be creative with realization solutions and available technology
Strong interpersonal skills
Friendly and personable
Trustworthy and able to keep keys and combinations confidential
Understanding of basic first aid and the emergency services through public safety
