Psychology Training Director
Job Summary
The Director of Psychology Training is a licensed, doctoral level psychologist who coordinates, directs and manages the psychology trainees at HMHI. The Training Director is responsible for administrative and professional work related to organizing and coordinating of the American Psychological Association (APA) accredited Psychology Internship Program at Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI), and oversees the postdoctoral and externship training programs. The Training Director also supervises interns and provides direct clinical services to patients at HMHI.
Responsibilities
Maintains up-to-date documentation for the Psychology Internship Program in compliance with APA and Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) standards.
Implements processes, practices, procedures and operations in accordance with the APA Office of Program Consultation and Accreditation Standards of Accreditation.
Prepares and submits required re-accreditation reports and updates to APA and APPIC; coordinates and participates in APA and APPIC audits.
Oversees annual intern recruitment, interviewing, and matching process. Continues to implement a systematic, coherent, and long-term effort to recruit and retain diverse trainees, and encourages and supports department-level efforts to recruit and retain diverse training supervisors.
Coordinates and collaborates with graduate programs whose students are performing internships at HMHI to ensure that the interns meet required standards of those graduate programs. Provides regular updates on intern progress to their home academic training directors.
Leads monthly Psychology Training meetings and ensures participation by supervising psychologists.
Develops, organizes and provides intern training, including conducting and/or coordinating weekly seminar and didactic training. Enlists services of internal and external professionals to deliver various training and academic presentations. Ensures that adequate training opportunities exist for the interns, including those meeting APPIC requirements.
Provides formal supervision of selected pre-doctoral interns, post-doctoral psychology residents, and staff.
Coordinates and participates in intern evaluations. May coordinate with other supervisors to identify individual areas of needed professional development. Assists in the development of improvement plans, as needed.
Works with psychologist supervisors and Psychology Manager to assess intern progress and eligibility for doctoral accreditation and licensing.
The Training Director is ultimately responsible for the postdoctoral and externship training programs, including recruitment, coordination of training, and evaluations, and works closely with and supports the Postdoctoral and Externship Coordinators who directly oversee those programs.
Engages in on-going self-study and quality improvement efforts including collecting and summarizing year-end intern and staff feedback, and using that feedback to continuously improve to the training program.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D) in Psychology.
Current Utah license as a psychologist.
Experience in a behavioral health outpatient setting.
2 Years Post Licenser
2 years of Supervisory experience.
