Due to expansion of our operations, we have a challenging opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join our team.
Job Summary
This position will play a crucial role in the strategic growth and business development of Mader across the United States. This position requires someone with extensive experience and knowledge of the mining industry, specifically mobile equipment maintenance. This position requires a high amount of travel to customer sites across the country, to work on the development of new business and servicing of existing clients. Based at our Fort Collins, Colorado, office, however there is an option to work remotely as most work will be conducted in the field.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth
- Identify and screen potential opportunities by analyzing mine site needs, financial potential and logistical requirements.
- Pro-actively target mine sites and establish relationships with those businesses that can benefit from Mader Corporation’s services.
- Clearly articulate Mader Corporation’s equipment maintenance solutions and how these deliver additional benefits in comparison to current solutions.
- Prepare and distribute supporting documents that reflect client image and requirements.
- Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging existing network.
- Develop and maintain new customers through appropriate propositions and ethical sales methods that optimize quality of service, business growth, and customer satisfaction.
- Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements and working through differences to a positive conclusion.
- Deliver tender pricing/solution to client. Follow up on submitted proposals through to signing.
Reporting and travel
- Travel to, and present at mine sites, industry events and corporate functions.
- Arrange meetings on or off site, engage other team members if necessary, minute meetings and follow up on required actions.
- Develop and deliver to Vice President a weekly summary and monthly progress report on travel and opportunities.
- Document missed opportunities to modify and plan future approaches.
- Manage documentation and records to support all expenses and transactions.
- Plan and prioritize sales activities and customer/prospect contact towards achieving duties within budget and contract terms.
- Follow up with new and current clients to report on satisfaction level, enquire on further needs and generally improve the relationship.
- Work with the Operational Supervisors to deliver the right technician skillsets to match client requirements.
Commercial Partners/Competitors
- Monitor and report on mining industry trends, market/competitor activities, rates and products.
- Network with other service suppliers in the mining industry and establish a support group to integrate and leverage business development opportunities of Mader Corporation.
- Advise management of any threats or opportunities relating to competitors and current clients.
- Keep abreast of changes in the mining industry by reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and attend professional events.
Strategic Objectives
- Consult with management on business trends with a view to developing new services and strengthen strategic planning.
- Use knowledge of the mining market and competitors to identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators then imbed these in document templates, processes and policies.
- Develop and document negotiating strategies and positions by studying target clients' strategies, needs and operations with a view to optimize revenue opportunities.
- Forecast long and short-range market potential for management analysis.
- Work with management team to develop new services, then promote and initiate new services to prospective client.
Selection Criteria
- In depth knowledge of mobile equipment maintenance.
- Extensive experience within the mining industry.
- Thorough understanding of contract labor within the mining industry.
- Ability to leverage professional networks within the mining industry to engage potential clients from introduction to tendering processes.
- More than 10 years of experience in meeting or exceeding business goals, including revenue targets.
- Proven record of accomplishment gained over several years in business development.
- Commercially and financially aware.
- Proven experience developing and implementing solutions for clients.
- Excellent track-record in developing profitable and successful operations.
- Demonstrated networking experience and mining industry knowledge.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Mature, professional manner with clients & employees.
- Ambitious, enthusiastic, and well-motivated with a strong work ethic.
- Fast paced, high energy level and able to handle multiple priorities.
- A confident personality with a ‘can do’ attitude.
- Intermediate level experience with MS Office.

Pay: $150,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year
