Director of Security and Access Control
The Director of Security and Access Control handles overseeing the security technology portfolio to protect the clients’ team members, residents, assets, and facilities. This includes conducting property risk assessments, designing and installing security systems, and managing in-house technicians. The Director of Security and Access Control will coordinate site contacts, manage technicians, consult with vendors, and oversee administrative tasks related to billing and vendor setup.
Position Authority
The Security Manager has direct authority over the Access Control Technician(s).
Position Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day-to-day security technology for the entire company’s portfolio.
- Run daily operations from the office, including managing the service queue and prioritizing tasks based on site requirements.
- Initiate communication with site contacts to gather relevant information for service calls.
- Manage stock of parts for service and coordinate with vendors for quotes and walkthroughs.
- Supervise in-house technicians, assign service calls, and manage their schedules.
- Manage administrative tasks such as timesheets, PTO requests, and performance reviews for technicians.
- Arrange for security vendors to address service calls when in-house technicians are unavailable.
- Manage new vendor setup and billing processes for the department.
- Develop and keep a training system to onboard new hires quickly, ensuring the ability to use various security dashboards.
- Create and keep an equipment lifecycle plan, including audits, battery replacements, and end-of-life preparation.
- Manage licenses for various security systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Design security systems, including access control and video security, in coordination with project development and construction teams.
- Understand integration capabilities between various access control systems when multiple system types are installed at a specific location.
Skills And Qualifications Required
- Minimum of 5 years experience in Access Control and/or project management.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- System design and blueprint review for access control and camera systems
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage resources effectively.
- Ability to use security systems and software.
- Experience in vendor management and negotiation.
- Knowledge of security regulations and best practices.
- Knowledge of mechanical door hardware.
- Experienced in low-voltage wiring.
- Ticket system management.
- Must be able to stand & walk for extended periods (site audits)
