ExtraMile Convenience Stores LLC is a joint venture owned by Chevron and Jacksons Food Stores. The ExtraMile Franchise is currently made up of more than 1,000 convenience stores in Alabama, California, Idaho, Oregon, Mississippi, Nevada, Utah, and Washington. The formation of the new Company has resulted in opportunities to expand the ExtraMile brand within the current footprint, as well as to other states – resulting in exciting new employment opportunities.
We are currently seeking a Category Specialist (Tobacco) who will provide support to the Category Manager on key initiatives and activities. The Category Specialist provides vital support in all merchandising areas within their given categories across pricing, promotions, assortment, supplier management, etc. This candidate needs to possess strong analytical and communication skills and capability managing multiple tasks and projects.
This position will be based in Pleasanton, California. Hybrid available for bay area candidates. WFH work arrangement for Southern California candidate with office travel as needed.
As a Category Specialist (Tobacco), you will be responsible for:
- Timely set up of monthly buydowns, and promotions for bi-monthly promotional guide.
- Ensuring accuracy of PSO level pricing, product setup, and promotion information.
- Supporting pricebook maintenance and pricing strategies within specified categories.
- Assisting with resolution of pricing and invoicing issues.
- Facilitating meetings and execution with the Pricebook team.
- Supporting Category Manager with development of category reviews, analysis, and presentations.
- Actively participating in supplier meetings.
- Completing ad hoc projects and assisting with program development.
- Handling category issues in absence of Category Manager.
- Working with Rebate team to ensure all vendor rebates are collected and tobacco rebates and buydowns are processed correctly.
- Monitoring and reviewing supplier performance on promotion conversion, and sales gap reporting.
- Managing the setup and maintenance of new items and establishment of net new price levels.
- Supporting the merchandising team by creating and executing sales, margins and promotional reports.
- Analyzing and providing interpretation of sales trends for product categories.
- Creating and updating field communications, process documents and resource materials as needed.
- Working closely with Promotion Specialist & Loyalty Manager to ensure alignment, strong communication of all promotions and proper data entry for promotional guides.
- Communicating with Price Book, suppliers, and stores on new vendor set-up, new products, price and placement.
- Interacting with field personnel to ensure proper execution of programs and planograms.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
You will be a great if you have
- A Bachelors’ Degree in Marketing, Business and/or a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in the retailing or convenience store industry required.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and analytical tools.
- The ability to work well in teams and handle multiple tasks while supporting multiple stakeholders.
- A history of being self-motivated and having strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated time management skills in order to meet multiple deadlines.
