OVERVIEW
For over 52 years, Good Shepherd Manor has been home to 100+ men with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Our thriving community of residents and staff enjoy living or working on our picturesque 60-acre campus that includes 13 modern group homes located 45 minutes south of Chicago just north of Momence, Illinois.
As a member of the senior management team, the Human Resources Director is given the responsibilities of managing employee/labor relations, compensation and benefits; recruitment; regulation and policy compliance. The HR Director reports to the President and partners closely with the directors and managers. The position supervises one additional HR staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist President and other managers in developing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy including all employee recruitment, on-boarding and retention programs.
Work with the HR staff to manage the recruitment and selection process.
Aid management with employee developmental plans and ensure managers provide accurate and timely feedback to staff.
Advise and support President and other managers regarding interpretation of policies, employee grievances, and procedures on progressive discipline and termination activity.
Create or modify HR policies as required including the maintenance of the employee handbook.
Monitor employee relations climate and implement approved employee recognition programs.
Salary and Benefits administration, including communicating new and existing benefit plans, policies and procedures to staff as well as conducting wage and benefit surveys.
Facilitate compliance with governmental regulation within various agencies.
Coordinate and conduct HR training programs as needed with input from appropriate departments.
Provide input in the areas of Risk Management, Safety Awareness Programs. Administer Workers’ Compensation and make recommendations for improvement to reduce liability.
Administer the agencies pre-employment programs and serve as the authorized IDPH Portal Web Authority to assure that employee information on the Portal Web remains current and all required background checks are completed as required.
Facilitates communication through active participation in meetings of the Executive Committee of the Board, Personnel Committee, and Labor/Management Committee.
Provide management decision support by tracking and supplying appropriate HR metrics.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience/Education Requirements
The position requires 3-5 years direct Human Resources experience including interviewing, recruitment and retention activities, employee benefits programs; previous supervisory experience; knowledge of labor relations law and regulations; excellent verbal and written communication skills; attention to detail in composing and proofreading; organized; and very good computer skills with various software packages and the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or relevant field required. Three or more years of Human Resources experience required.
