Job Title: Lead Teacher, Infant Room
Program: Early Childhood Education
Reports to: Facility Director, Fayette Early Learning Academy
Position Summary: The Infant Teacher will provide a nurturing and safe environment for infants in the center's care to develop and reach age-appropriate milestones. A successful infant teacher will demonstrate good judgement in the care of / play with each infant assigned to the room, verbally engage with infants throughout the day in addition to incorporating play activities and providing comfort. Teachers assigned to the Infant Room must develop partnerships with each parent/caregivers to engage and encourage parental participation in program, as well as maintaining the feeding schedule with bottles and solids provided by the parents and ensuring changing schedules are maintained at all times.
The Infant Teacher is also responsible for ensuring compliance with codes of all State and local governing/licensing agencies, maintaining a clean and environment, and working collegially with other staff members.
A successful candidate will be a caring individual who enjoys caring for and teaching young children, with the ability to lift up to 30 pounds. You will have a GED or H.S. diploma and have completed the Early Childhood courses required by state licensing. You will have the flexibility to work a shift between 6:00 am and 6:30 pm and have reliable transportation to the Child Care center to ensure consistency for the infants under your care. A clean background check is required before an offer an be extended.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide a safe and loving environment for the infants in his/her care
- Give bottles to infants as provided by parents
- Feed infants' solid foods as age appropriate and provided by parents
- Change diapers as needed
- Soothe infants by singing to and cuddling them
- Supervise infants on the floor as they play with age appropriate toys
- Put infants in cribs for nap time
- Ensure play, sleep and changing areas are kept clean
- Maintain ongoing, open communication with parents/ caregivers
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely client and agency records, including completion of daily sheets for changing, meal, and attendance records
- Complete daily health checks regarding hygiene, safety, and overall well-being of the children in his/her care
- Ability to work a shift in between 6:00 am to 6:30 pm that changes weekly
- Reliable transportation to the Child Care center
- Great customer service skills to communicate effectively with parents
Education:
- All staff must provide a clean background check before the first day of employment.
- At least 1 year of experience is preferred for teachers.
- CDA or higher is required, with the exception of the existence or creation of a Professional Development Plan with a 6-month limit for obtaining a CDA or higher. Assistance in this can be provided.
- Meet annual professional development requirements, per state regulations.

- Frequently walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talks or hears.
- Often required to stand and sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat or crawl.
- Extended periods of time sitting on the floor
- Lift and carry up to 25 pounds and, in case of emergency, a 40 pound child.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
