Position Summary: The organization is looking for a skilled individual to work closely under the guidance of the Chief Financial Officer. This role involves comprehensive management of financial and accounting operations, including but not limited to overseeing general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, asset management, budgeting, and taxation. The candidate will play a crucial role in leading and mentoring a small accounting team, managing a diverse range of grants and donations, and maintaining robust relationships with banks, investment managers, and other financial partners. A strong emphasis is placed on ensuring the implementation of effective internal controls and adhering to industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Finance and Accounting:
- Uphold compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards in financial records and reports.
- Manage the preparation and review of financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Conduct financial analyses and forecasts, presenting findings to staff, leadership, and the board.
- Act as the primary liaison for external audit activities.
- Oversee tax compliance and reporting, including preparation and filing of various tax forms and registrations.
- Manage accounting for endowments and donations, ensuring adherence to guidelines and proper fund utilization.
- Optimize management of grants and indirect costs from various sources.
- Innovate and enhance accounting processes for better efficiency and accuracy.
- Advise on financial best practices to support program effectiveness.
- Handle additional related tasks as required.
Annual Budget Process:
- Assist in the annual budgeting process and conduct regular budget reviews.
- Monitor and report on budget performance at various organizational levels.
- Propose innovative solutions to budgetary challenges and support long-term budget forecasting.
Cash Management and Investments:
- Manage cash flow projections and account balances, recommending necessary transfers.
