Job Summary:
The Quality and Continuous Improvement Engineer will play a pivotal role in ensuring product and process quality while leading efforts to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. This position requires a unique blend of quality assurance expertise and a strong commitment to driving efficiency and excellence in our operations.
Responsibilities:
1: Managing Product Quality
· Perform routine quality inspection for the veneer manufacturing processes and generate a comprehensive quality analysis report for supervisors/ managers to spread awareness and improve the overall quality of our product.
· Collect and analyze quality data to identify trends, areas of improvement, and potential risks. Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key quality performance indicators.
· Establish detailed guidelines on the quality standards and determine metrics/ quality assurance goals for all the wood veneer manufacturing procedures.
· Continuously update and improve quality analysis reports and assist in building our Quality Management System (QMS) with quality incidents, corrective actions, and recommended improvements.
· Monitor and analyze customer feedback, complaints, and returns. Implement corrective actions to address customer concerns and improve satisfaction
· Collaborate with customer-facing teams to understand customer needs and expectations, ensuring that quality standards align with customer requirements.
2: Process Efficiency Data Documentation/Analysis
· Collect, simplify, and interpret daily production data by performing statistical analysis to identify trends, patterns, and root causes of inefficiencies.
· Generate data-driven insights and recommendations for process enhancements and help make meaningful business decisions to align the company’s strategic goal/ planning.
· Collaborate with plant manager and executives to develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure departmental production efficiency.
· Conduct time and motion studies to analyze workflows and identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
· Conduct regular process efficiency reviews and recommend changes to optimize workflows. And regularly review performance data and take corrective actions as needed.
· Create process maps, flowcharts, and diagrams to visualize and communicate process improvements.
· Conduct root cause analysis to identify underlying issues contributing to process inefficiency.
· Identify opportunities for automation and technology integration to streamline processes.
3: SOP & Training
· Establish/ maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for dealing with common quality breaches.
· Develop comprehensive departmental training programs/ packages for each production supervisor to ensure a better-educated workforce, higher operational efficiency, and a safer/ welcoming workplace.
· Analyze existing workflows/ processes and collaborate with departmental supervisors/ managers to generate improvement suggestion reports.
· Hold training sessions to train team members/stakeholders on improved processes and best practices.
· Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the organization by sharing knowledge and insights.
4: Continuous Improvement Practices
· Implement process engineering concepts (TQM, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, ISO9001, Six Sigma, etc ) in the company and coordinate project team on company-wide Kaizen events.
· Develop and implement a comprehensive process improvement strategy aligned with the organization’s goals and objectives. Ensure that all process changes and improvements are well-documented and compliant with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
· Conduct cost-benefit analysis to evaluate the financial impact of process improvements. Monitor and report on cost savings achieved through efficiency enhancements.
Qualifications
Education
· Bachelor's degree in process engineering, operations management required.
· Wood science/ wood technology/ sustainable biomaterials background is preferred
· Some knowledge in Mechanical engineering, Industrial engineering, Process engineering, Project management, or any related field of study is highly recommended.
Technical Skills
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Specifically Excel & PPT for data analysis & visualization)
· Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
· Proficient in the field of statistical analysis to perform analysis based on historical production data and pinpoint the root cause behind the fluctuation of product quality, production efficiency, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
· Proficiency in professional engineering CAD software a plus
· Knowledge of QMS standards like ISO 9001 is recommended
· Possess fundamental knowledge and understanding of wood anatomy, including cell structure arrangement, chemical composition, species characteristics, and natural growth defects/ stresses preferred
· Knowledge of project management principles and experience in leading or participating in process improvement projects, including project planning, execution, and monitoring.
· Possess strong organizational, oral communication, and technical writing skills to summarize/ simplify complex manufacturing procedures for developing an in-house training program.
· Have strong leadership ability to lead/coordinate production associates and possess a Kaizen mindset to continuously identify areas for improvements for our manufacturing facility.
· Possess high attention to detail with the ability to meticulously review and analyze data and documentation to identify quality issues.
· Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks and manage multiple improvement projects simultaneously. Independent Worker who can self-start and is comfortable working or leading project on their own
