Shipping Clerk
The Shipping Clerk oversees the day-to-day functions of the shipping and receiving department and ultimately ensures that the shipment of all products, materials and supplies is in order. This may include helping expedite the flow of parts through the plant, hunting down inventory, working with vendors to schedule shipments, and handling all shipping forms and documents.
Primary Functions:
- Determine the method of shipment and schedule shipping.
- Prepare bills of lading, invoices, and other shipping documents both manually and by computer.
- Selecting, packing, and labeling items according to shipping requirements and destination.
- Ensure the accuracy of all shipments.
- Tracking and updating the status of outgoing shipments
- Engages in communication with customers, external vendors, drivers, and internal teams regarding order status.
- Maintaining accurate records, such as log sheets of daily moves and scanning inventory.
- Comfortable operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Strong communication skills
- Good computer skills including MS Excel and other MS Office products
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with split-focus
- Must have good command of the English language, both written and spoken, in order to read and interpret work instructions and other job-related documentation.
Physical Demands
- Physical effort is required, including lifting parts that weigh between 2 and 25 pounds, twisting frequently, and standing in the same spot for up to eight hours.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- May be exposed to a number of elements, such as coolant, metal shavings, etc., but with non-present to the extent of being hazardous.
- Must be able to have the hand and visual coordination and dexterity to work with computers and keyboard.
