Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team at the PPA Tour as an Operations Associate. This is a critical role in which the successful candidate will be responsible for event operations including setup, takedown, and driving equipment to events. This role mainly requires physical labor for setting up and tearing down, as well as handling tournament equipment through physical labor and labor delivery.
Responsibilities
- Execute specialized technical tasks requiring manual dexterity and proficiency with tools in a field-based setting.
- Drive and navigate diverse routes proficiently, handling transportation of equipment and materials efficiently and safely.
- Demonstrate physical capability for heavy lifting and maneuvering of equipment as required for the assigned tasks.
- Apply technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve on-site challenges independently and efficiently.
- Adaptability to a work culture that diverges from conventional norms, offering a distinctive perspective and skill set from experience in non-traditional industries.
Setup Phase:
Venue Preparation
- Collaborate with the venue management to ensure the tournament courts and facilities are prepared for the event.
Equipment Setup
- Set up pickleball courts, net systems, scoreboards, and other necessary equipment.
Signage and Branding
- Install event signage, banners, and branding materials throughout the venue.
Vendor Coordination
- Work closely with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and setup of equipment and services.
Logistics
- Oversee the efficient transport and distribution of tournament materials and resources.
During Tournament:
Support Operations
- Be available during the event to address logistical and operational issues that may arise.
Assist Sponsors and Spectators
- Provide assistance to sponsors and spectators as needed.
Crowd Control
- Assist in crowd control and maintaining a safe and orderly tournament environment.
Emergency Response
- Be prepared to respond to emergency situations in accordance with established protocols.
Take-Down Phase:
Equipment Breakdown
- Disassemble and pack up all tournament equipment, ensuring it is stored securely.
Venue Cleanup
- Oversee the cleanup of the venue, ensuring it is left in excellent condition.
Inventory Management
- Conduct an inventory check to account for all tournament materials and equipment.
Qualifications
- Must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Proven experience in a technical role or field-based operations, showcasing proficiency in hands-on tasks and technical problem-solving.
- Ability to handle physical demands, including heavy lifting, as an integral part of the job responsibilities.
- Comfortable working in an unconventional work environment, displaying adaptability and resilience in varying work conditions.
- Excellent communication skills and the capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team setting.
- Be 21 years of age or older.
- Have an acceptable driving record from the State Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
- Be willing to obtain a Medical Examiner's Certificate (ME Certificate) from a Department of Transportation (DOT) licensed "medical examiner" listed on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) National Registry.
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Must be a dependable, flexible, and a reliable team player and have strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours in non-traditional settings, including some nights, weekends, and holidays, and able and willing to travel to off-site events, etc., as needed.
The working hours for this role will only be when working on-site for tournaments but has lots of opportunity for overtime. No additional non-tournament days or working hours are required. Must be located in AZ, FL, ID, IL, MA, MI, NC, NY, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA
