Job Summary:
Contributes to the Decision Support department through the development of compelling tools and analyses to drive quality and operational excellence, strengthen and support our workforce, ad enhance the breadth and depth of care for the community. Builds ad-hoc analyses, queries, and reports to solve business problems and effectively communicate findings to stakeholders across the organization. Acts as a subject matter expert on all things related to data. Participates in departmental process improvement initiatives.
Essential Functions:
1. Data Collection and Analysis
·Analyzes data to understand relationships, validate hypotheses, and discover patterns and trends.
·Designs data collection, standardization, aggregation, analysis, and reporting strategies.
·Validates and improves data integrity and accuracy.
2. Data Reporting Solutions
·Develops and runs queries, reports, and dashboards that solve organizational business problems using multiple analytics platforms.
·Creates compelling visuals and presents data to a wide array of audiences.
·Distills large quantities of data from multiple sources into crisp, clear insights that add organizational value.
·Contributes to organizational reporting strategies and helps resolve issues through vendor ticketing systems.
·Supports ongoing improvement of analytics systems, including systems administrator functions.
3. Project Ownership
·Takes responsibility for projects and uses expertise to develop effective approaches and solve problems.
·Maintains positive customer service oriented approach with internal stakeholders and external business partners.
·Meets project timelines and balances competing and rapidly changing priorities within the department.
·Works collaboratively with report requesters, providing guidance to define report requirements and validate results.
4. Teamwork
·Support department through use and/or development of skills that enables coverage of co-worker's duties.
·Contributes to a positive working environment and supports organization and department initiatives.
·Teaches others to better utilize existing data resources. Educates and assesses staff ability to effectively use data technologies to access data and improve patient care.
·Develops documentation and training material
·Works in conjunction with St. John’s Health Informatics Team, department leaders, and other decision support team members to identify, define, manage, educate, and communicate data, information, knowledge, and wisdom with regards to EMR and other technology use.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Education
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in related field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Healthcare Administration, or Public Health.
Minimum Work Experience
Required: 3+ years of healthcare experience as a data analyst, business analyst, informaticist, project manager, or related role. Experience handing data requests, running reports, validating data, and manipulating data in Excel. 2+ years of experience working in a data-intensive environment. Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, SharePoint. Prior experience in a healthcare setting. Excellent problem solving capabilities.
Preferred: 2+ years of experience working with data and databases (schema, tables, joins, subqueries). Experience with Midas+, Statit, and/or Cerner Community Works (CCL, Discern Analytics 2). Previous experience working with business intelligence tools (PowerBI, Tableau, QlikView, etc)

Working Conditions: Physical office setting. Physical Requirements: Mostly a computer-based job. Some walking to consult with co-workers and staff. Must be on-site at the St. John's Health Campus or other facilities to perform the functions of this role.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
