Assist in the coordination and implementation of the day-to-day operations of the after the child care program. Program may contain daily tutoring/ mentoring component, physical activity/sports component and enrichment curriculum and activities.
GENERAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for planning or assisting their supervisor in planning, supervision and implementation of the program for the children in accordance with the policies and philosophies of the YMCA and in compliance with the State of California Licensing Regulations and partnering agency specifications.
2. Assist with the development and implementation of the curriculum and maintaining records and reports.
3. Work in a team environment with others, ensuring the enrichment of programs is adequate for the participants.
4. Ensure the program has necessary supplies and equipment, report any issues to their direct supervisor.
5. Prepares, plans and develops lesson plans that are age appropriate and consistent with the mission of the YMCA.
6. Present subject matter to students; utilizing variety of methods and techniques such as lecture, discussion and supervised role-play in a positive environment.
7. Conducts in a range of activities that promote family involvement, membership by design, and relationship by design.
8. Follow center and Association policies and procedures for health and safety and nutrition.
9. Integrate Character Development values (caring, responsibility, respect, and honesty) into curriculum and interaction with children, staff and parents and be a role model with those values.
10. Attend all staff meetings, trainings and other YMCA functions as required by Supervisor.
11. Maintain open lines of communication with staff, parents, partner agencies, and supervisor.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Certifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Some college required and/or pass the District test.
**12 units of ECE or CD units (6 units prior to hiring and additional 6 required within 1 year) OR 240 approved training hours (must talk to supervisor) – Licensed Child Care only.
**Additional Requirements: Criminal Clearance: including Fingerprints & Child Abuse Index Check, Health Exam to include TB test and clearance.
Experience & Background:
6 months experience working and supervision of children.
Experience with MAC and PC format computers is preferred.
Bilingual with English/Spanish preferred.
Current CPR and 1st Aid Certification within 3 months of employment.
