The Village of Roselle, Illinois (22,897) seeks a full-time Wastewater Operator in the Public Works Department. Roselle is located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. The position performs technical and physical work on the operation, maintenance, and improvement of the mechanical, electrical, chemical, and biological wastewater treatment equipment and systems associated with the Village’s two wastewater treatment plants and the sanitary sewer collection system.
The ideal candidate will possess some knowledge of wastewater treatment operating practices, the operation of wastewater equipment and performing routine repairs to the various equipment, machinery and systems. Knowledge of how to navigate and interpret SCADA systems is a plus, but not required.
Ideal candidates would possess: A high school diploma (GED or equivalent), a current and valid Illinois motor vehicle operator's license with a CDL endorsement (or capable of acquiring CDL within six months. Training for CDL license will be provided), minimum of three years’ experience in the public works and/or construction industry desired but not required, and minimum of a Class IV Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's Certificate (or capable of acquiring within twelve months) as issued and recognized by the State of Illinois are required.
This position is responsible for working approximately forty hours (40) each week with occasional overtime and weekend assignments. The salary range is $60,969 to $81,866 and the starting salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience. This position, which is a member of Operating Engineers, Local 150 union, receives comprehensive benefits including paid time off, pension, and health and life insurance.
