New York Dermatology Group seeks bright, dedicated medical assistants (MAs). MAs work alongside our physicians and are cross-trained to perform administrative and clinical duties.
Administrative Duties [may include but are not limited to]:
Greeting patients
Answering telephones
Scheduling appointments
Using computer applications
Arranging for laboratory services
Updating our patients’ medical records via EMR software
Clinical Duties [may include but are not limited to]:
Taking medical histories and vitals
Explaining treatments/procedures
Preparing patients for examination
Assisting the physician during exams
Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
Instructing patients about medication and/or special diets
Preparing and administering medications as directed by MDs
Authorizing prescription refills as directed
Drawing blood (in-office training available)
Moving heavy equipment up to 50 pounds
Removing sutures and changing dressings
Learning the utilization and troubleshooting of various equipment (laser, radiofrequency, EMS)
Qualifications: This opportunity requires a very well-organized and responsible individual with excellent communication skills. Professional demeanor and high level of discretion are required. This is an ideal role for pre-medical, nursing or health students taking time off between undergraduate and medical/graduate school; we highly suggest that prospective Medical Assistants have demonstrated experience in medicine.
