Position Summary:
The Production Manager will have a history of exceptional manufacturing experience. This post works closely, and collaborates, with the scheduling team and department leaders. A primary function is to regularly analyze production operations for opportunities for improvement. In addition, this post manages and mentors production team members to increase efficiencies and productivity and provide support to line leads and operators to improve work processes, labor and manufacturing optimization, and staff development. Leading and managing the team to ensure meeting daily, weekly, and monthly production and financial goals is essential for the success of this role.
Reporting to the Vice President - Operations, this hands-on role will be focused on leading the team to run our manufacturing/packaging plant during the 1st shift (6:00am-2:30pm) with overtime as required; directing a flexible staff to operate multiple production lines. The goal is to ensure a safe, efficient, and productive manufacturing process that consistently meets or exceeds customer expectations.
Duties / Responsibilities:
Health and Safety:
· Enforce all environmental, health, safety, and regulatory policies and requirements.
· Promote safety culture that drives near-zero incidents.
· Review and investigate safety misses.
Production:
· Review and set daily/weekly/monthly production goals.
· Develop workflow and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality.
· Communicate regularly with leadership team regarding production status.
· Manage labor costs and production output to targets.
· Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet demand and labor budget.
· Effectively cross-train employees on different processes and pieces of equipment to ensure a well-balanced and capable team.
· Build a strong and effective team, exemplifying the company’s core values.
Planning and Scheduling:
· Works with scheduling team to ensure on time delivery and schedule adherence.
Continual Improvement:
· Continually investigates and introduces process and cost improvement measures and presents suggestions for consideration.
· Manages lean manufacturing techniques, quality improvement, cost reduction, on time delivery, customer satisfaction, team member relations, and manufacturing performance measures.
Team Member Development:
· Facilitate team member training.
· Conduct monthly one-on-one meetings with production leads.
· Handle employee reviews, hiring, on-boarding, and terminations.
Facility Management:
· Supports efforts to optimize use, cleanliness, and maintenance of equipment and facilities.

OTD, Throughput, Cycle Time, Changeover Time, Takt Time, Downtime to Operating Time, Equipment Utilization, First Pass Yield, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, Overtime Rate, Customer Returns, Direct Margin (percent and dollars), Gross Profit Margin (percent and dollars).
Education / Qualifications / Knowledge:
· High School diploma or GED equivalent,
· Five years of industry experience with a proven track record of streamlining and improving manufacturing operations.
· Six Sigma, Lean and/or certifications and expertise in other manufacturing techniques.
· Business acumen, critical thinking, and strong problem-solving skills.
· Financial and budget planning experience.
· Communication and presentation skills.
· Time management and organizational skills.
· Excellent leadership, interpersonal, collaboration and team building skills.
· Experience with EPR systems.
Physical Requirements:
· Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Periods of standing, walking, and lifting (up to 25 lbs.)
