POSITION SUMMARY
This job requires a person to be a working team leader who can assist in training new employees, making sure that customer requirements are met with perfect quality and delivery and makes sure that all company rules are followed including perfect housekeeping and working safely.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work-piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.
- Assists Plant Manager in making customer requirements in quality and delivery dates.
- Assists Plant Manager in making sure all company rules are enforced including housekeeping and safety.
- Verifies conformance of finished work-piece to specifications and provides documentation thereof.
- Complete non-conformance reports.
- Ensures closing of all completed and some partial work orders.
- Assures accuracy and entry of labor into labor collection system.
- Responsible for department efficiency and productivity.
- Ensures preventive maintenance is completed in department.
- Works to continually improve overall production goals.
- Operates electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
- Operates forklift to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
- Responsible for labeling secondary containers of cutting fluids, solvents, etc. used in work area.
- Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve production problems.
- Assists in the training of new employees and documenting the training.
- Assists in performance management of employees.
- Performs all work in a safety conscious manner. Be aware of dangers and take all appropriate counter measures to protect yourself and others around you.
- Responsible to maintain a clean and safe work area consistent with the Company’s housekeeping policies
- Supports Quality Management System of Fisher Hydraulics.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct leadership of all staff in their respected areas of assignment. Reports to Plant Manager. May assume assigned responsibilities of Plant Manager in his/her absence.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED with 1 to 3 years of production and/or machining experience. Prior experience in manufacturing environment required. Willingness to take educational courses in supervisory training. Must possess moderate computer literacy and experience in the Microsoft Office Suite, and with JDEdwards ERP/MRP application. Developed flexibility and time management skills are necessary to effectively manage multiple projects and problems together with the high degree of detail that goes along with these responsibilities. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms. Must interact professionally and successfully with all levels of the organization.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, blueprints, correspondence and memos in English. Ability to write English correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and small group situations to management and company associates.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Basic skills required as needed to utilize tape measures, micrometers and calipers.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to react and respond positively to change.
