The Machinist is responsible for operating machines to perform assigned tasks and projects. The Machinist will produce and repair precision parts using both manual and automated equipment and accurate measurements.
The position reports directly to the Shop Supervisor.
- Review samples, drawings, or instructions to understand specifications of output
- Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job
- Take measurements and mark material for cutting
- Perform sawing, drilling, counterboring, tapping operations per shop prints
- Check output to ensure consistency to print and discard / inform management of defects
- Keep records of approved and defective units or final products
- Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages
Desired Skills & Experience - Manual Machinist
- Minimum 2 years as a machinist in a similar role
- Ability to read blueprints
- Experience in using and / or programming manual and semi-automated equipment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks with a sense of urgency
- Well organized with an aptitude for details
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Have the ability to multi-task and produce quality results under pressure
- Must be a self-starter and able to work independently with little supervision
