Starting salary is $52,645 - $65,811 depending on experience for highly qualified candidates.
Up to 5% salary increase after successful completion of six-month probationary period.
Plus: Transportation Allowance of $2,000/year to be distributed equally over 26 pay periods annually.
The City of Brentwood is seeking a detail-oriented colleague with great communication skills to join its team as an Accounting Clerk II in the utility billing area.
The City of Brentwood, located in scenic Williamson County, is considered one of the most desirable suburban locations in Tennessee. The City is known for its strong business community, quality schools, abundant recreational activities, and high standard of living. It sits just south of Nashville and has a population of approximately 46,000 residents.
The City of Brentwood Finance Department works in collaboration with the Water Services Department to provide quality customer service to the City’s water and sewer customers. As an Accounting Clerk II, you will be responsible for processing utility payments, providing an excellent customer service experience in a timely and effective manner, and helping to ensure accurate recording of City financial transactions.
Reporting to the Assistant Finance Director and working closely with another Utility Billing Clerk, you’ll enjoy being an integral part of a collaborative team.
JOB PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical demand requirements are at levels consistent with sedentary office work.
DATA CONCEPTION: Requires the ability to compare and or judge the readily observable functional, technical, structural, or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people, or things.
INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION: Requires the ability to speak to people to convey or exchange administrative, financial and/or legal information. Includes giving assignments and/or directions to co-workers or assistants.
LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
INTELLIGENCE: Requires the ability to learn and understand basic to complex principles and techniques; to make independent judgments in absence of supervision; to acquire knowledge of topics related to the job of Data Analyst.
VERBAL APTITUDE: Requires the ability to record and deliver information to supervisors and officials; to explain procedures and policies; and to follow verbal and written instructions, guidelines, and objectives.
NUMERICAL APTITUDE: Requires the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
MOTOR COORDINATION: Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes in automated equipment.
MANUAL DEXTERITY: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items, equipment, control knobs, switches, etc. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
COLOR DISCRIMINATION: Requires the ability to differentiate colors and shades of color.
INTERPERSONAL TEMPERAMENT: Requires the ability to deal with people (i.e., staff, supervisors, general public, and officials) beyond giving and receiving instructions such as in interpreting departmental policies and procedures, persuading others to take action, and explaining accounting concepts and principles. Must be adaptable to performing under minimal stress when faced with competing demands and short deadlines.
