GENERAL PURPOSE: The management of all full/part-time faculty and clinical coordinator within the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at the Florence, Kentucky campus (near Cincinnati). Provide academic advice and support to students throughout their academic journey. The Program Director ensures the integrity of curriculum, classroom materials/equipment and supervises classroom management. The Program Director ensures campus compliance with specific accreditation and licensing requirements. The Program Director’s responsibilities further include retention of current students and the exploration of potential new programs of study to ensure the future growth of the campus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruit, interview, and hire new faculty members as needed with the cooperation of the Vice President of Education, Compliance and Accreditation.
- Maintain a teaching schedule (generally 20 lecture/platform hours per week).
- Train and observe new faculty members.
- Review performance and manage faculty and clinical coordinator’s hours, assignments and adherence to College policies.
- Recommend revisions to curriculum and new courses for development. Monitor trends in the job market for potential program development.
- Coordinate advisory board membership and meetings with industry professionals, faculty members, and Career Services to ensure the school is meeting the industry’s needs.
- Coordinate faculty meetings, professional development and in-service training sessions for program faculty and clinical coordinator. Attend all-staff/faculty meetings as required.
- Participate in orientation, graduation, and other major academic and school events.
- Work with the Vice President of Education, Compliance and Accreditation; staff, and other faculty members to: o Adhere to departmental budget requirements.
- Meet/exceed the overall retention goal.
- Speak with potential students, and promote the program at scheduled open houses, etc.
- Ensure that the total contact hours required for courses are taught/delivered.
- Implement and adhere to all school policies and regulations.
- Provide tutoring and informal advising to students as needed.
EXPERIENCE
- possesses three years of teaching or occupational experience in the field (obstetrician/GYN).
- demonstrates academic and experiential background in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography profession; and
- possesses an active registration/credential from a nationally recognized sonography credentialing agency.
EDUCATION
- Holds, at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree earned at an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or an otherwise nationally recognized training entity (e.g., hospital-based program).
