Job Title: Surgical Scheduler/Medical Assistant
Surgery Scheduler Duties:
- Scheduling patients for surgery, completing facility paperwork
- Scheduling patient for follow-up appointments and tests
- Reviewing patient's medical and health history to determine pre-admission testing
- Answers the phones in a professional and courteous manner
- Completes pre/post-operative data entry in a timely and accurate manner
- Completes daily/weekly/monthly surgical schedule
- Completes departmental filing
- Completes other duties as assigned
FRONT OFFICE:
- Front desk reception, answer phones and schedule appointments
- Greets patients and assist with signing in
- Files and maintains medical and financial records
- Verify insurance eligibility
- Process outside referrals and authorizations management
- Performs other position related duties as assigned
- Calls in prescriptions to the pharmacy
- Uses communication skills with appropriate medical terminology
- Follows appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct
BACK OFFICE:
- Measures and records vital signs, patient medical history and chief complaints
- Prepares patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests
- Assists physician with exams and other procedures
- Phlebotomy, collection of lab specimens, perform basic lab tests
- Prepares and administers medications and injections with physician authorization
- Maintains supplies, equipment, stocks and sterilizes instruments
- Maintains clean facility, rooms and waiting area
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimally 1 years experience as a MA
- Must be MA Certified
- CPR Certified
- Bilingual in Spanish
