The job – the BIG picture:

- Provide guidance, support and training to Program Assistants allowing them to effectively complete their duties.
- Personal Care services include assistance with activities of daily living which include feeding, toileting, and bathing, per the client’s individual service plan (ISP).
- Assist in overseeing the medication administration system for assigned facility.
- Completing daily documentation and charting of each client’s activities per our guidelines.
- Support a positive house culture for Covey employees by exemplifying how we embody Covey’s Mission and Values.
- Build a trusting relationship with clients and their families to identify individual needs and wants.
- Create meal plans and ensure clients’ dietary needs are met.
- Complete regular checks to ensure that required documentation is being completed by staff (i.e. electronic & paper, for example, med administration and client cares).
- Conduct and document regular checks of fire drills, fire extinguishers, water temperature, and refrigerator & freezer temperature.
- Be on call and take on-call shifts which may include having to work any shift.
- Ensure cleanliness, maintenance and safety of the environment and equipment in your assigned home.
- All Covey employees are mandated reporters if abuse and/or neglect is suspected contact the on-call staff.
- Communicate to Covey Respite Team clear guidance and expectations. This may include assigning tasks on a daily basis, assisting staff with problem solving, ensuring assigned work is completed, etc.
- Communicate to Program Coordinator the needs of the respite programs, facilities, and staff.
Qualifications/Education:
- Past or current experience leading and mentoring a team preferred.
- Understanding of how to help our participants overcome their barriers and challenges.
- Excellent communication skills will ensure that Covey participants, families and employees understand your written or oral message.
- Ability to keep things organized, please.
- We are very passionate about getting our participants out into the community, so we need you to have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record, a personal vehicle and auto insurance.
- You can recognize and maintain what needs to be kept confidential.
- We’re all about diversity! We love it! The ability to work with diverse groups of people is important!
- Must be able to respond to onsite emergencies within 30 minutes when on-call.
The other stuff:
- Covey Respite Program Leads are non-exempt.
