Jamaica Hospital Medical Center a member of the Medisys Health Network currently seeks Medical Records Clerk for an immediate full-time day shift opportunity in our Health Information Management department located in Hicksville, Long Island or in our Jamaica Queens location. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receive and open daily mail
- Ensuring that the medical records are accurate and complete
- Advising and assisting patients with information on how to obtain medical records on the phone, in person, and electronically.
- Creating digital copies of paperwork and storing the records electronically
- Assisting physicians in the chart completion process EPIC (pull list),
- Safeguarding patient records and ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards
- Maintaining electronic and verbal communication with Medisys sites and Risk Management to process standard and secured record requests.
- Performs purging on paper files and loose material
- Identify duplicate patient registration and/or duplicate medical record numbers/corrections
- Sort, check, and performs file maintenance for audit misfiles and indexing of all incoming loose reports/documents/files scanned into the medical record. material
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information as per hospital policy
REQUIREMENT
- Must have minimum Associate Degree.
- Strong data entry skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong Customer Service Skills
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate work
- Understands and uses search engines and websites – Tech Savvy
- Strong Time Management Skills
- Ability to Multitask
- Experience using different computers programs simultaneously
- Previous hospital/health care office experience is a plus
- Familiarity with medical terminology helpful
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) or coordinate interpreter service when necessary
- Must work well with a team and have the ability to work well independently
SALARY: 22.96/hr. - $23.23/hr. - $23.49/hr. Plus full 1199 Union Benefits.

Pay: $22.96 - $23.49 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
