Summary:
The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science seeks qualified individuals to fill the position of Staff Technician (BS level) (Grade/Tier TBD).
The potential candidate is expected to deliver quality service to the program faculty, staff, and students, supporting both academic and research activities. The position requires: timely response and professionalism in all faculty and student interactions; setup and maintenance of major equipment upgrades in our cleanroom and characterization labs as required; setup for lab classes and maintenance (including troubleshooting and repair) of instructional equipment; regular setup and integration of new equipment; regular operation, and demonstration of program resources such as robotics, drones, and cybersecurity simulators; and monitoring equipment and supplies to provide recommendations for maintenance, upgrades and replacement issues.
The position is a twelve-month full-time appointment. The anticipated start date is Fall 2023.

In addition, the technician is expected to, (a) administer routine academic and research lab operations, enforce safety procedures, and manage assets, (b) communicate with vendors to source spare parts for teaching labs and projects, (c) plan and schedule equipment upgrades, configure and documents changes, and install equipment, (d) perform other tasks and duties that may be occasionally required to meet the requirements of the role.

Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):
Certification in Engineering, Technology, IT, or a closely related field.
- Must have at least three-year experience in; maintaining and operating research and electronic equipment, inventory management, and software/hardware troubleshooting.
- Proven experience as Lab Technician or similar position operating and maintaining laboratory equipment.
• In-depth knowledge of preventative measures, safety, and laboratory best practices
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• BS in Electrical Engineering, Technology or a closely related field from an accredited program is desired
- Any relevant Electrical Certifications or Cyber Certifications are a plus.
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience
• At least three years of related experience as a Lab Technician in Electrical Engineering laboratories (VLSI, Embedded Systems, Electrical Power & Renewable Energy/Automation and Control Systems) in a university or industrial setting/environment.
