Dental Receptionist Responsibilities:
- Collecting, posting and managing account payments.
- Preparing and submitting claims.
- Entering EOBs into dental software system
- Preparing and sending patient statements.
- Following up with insurance companies.
- Monitoring any delinquent accounts.
- Identifying and resolving and billing complaints or issues.Greet and welcome patients as they arrive at the dental office
- Answer phone calls and schedule appointments
- Provide excellent customer service and address patient inquiries or concerns
- Manage patient flow and ensure a smooth check-in and check-out process
- Coordinate with dental staff to ensure efficient operation of the front desk
- Register new patients and enter information into dental software
- Assist patients with necessary forms and documentation
- Verify and update patient information
- Inform patients of office procedures and policies
- Move patients through appointment
- Maintain and manage patient records in compliance with privacy and security regulations
- Confirm upcoming appointments and recalls
- Fill in cancellation and no-shows
- Inform patients of financial treatment plan options
- Arrange payment schedule with patients (when approved by owner)
- Respond and comply with information requests
- Arrange patient charts for next day appointments
- Organize referrals to other medical specialists
- Dispatch lab work
- Collect payments from patients at time of treatment and issue receipts
- Prepare and mail billing statements
- Prepare claim forms for insurance claims, including necessary supporting documents
- Sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail
- Update patient education materials
- Maintain a professional reception area
- Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality
Dental Receptionist Skills:
- Knowledge of dental terminology & codes, insurance breakdown and billing is mandatory
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Should be fluent in Spanish an English
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling patient information
- Ability to work well in a team environment
Dental Receptionist Education and Experience
- High school diploma or G.E.
- Working knowledge of dental software is mandatory
- Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures and diagnosis is mandator
- Knowledge of computer and relevant software applications
- Knowledge of general administrative and clerical procedures
