Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Optician to join our team. As an Optician, you will be responsible for assisting customers in selecting and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses, as well as providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of optical products and services, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping others achieve optimal vision.
Duties:
- Assist customers in selecting frames that suit their style and preferences
- Take accurate measurements of customers' eyes and facial features to ensure proper fit of eyeglasses
- Help customers choose appropriate lenses based on their prescription and lifestyle needs
- Educate customers on proper eyewear care and maintenance
- Adjust frames to ensure comfort and proper alignment
- Process orders for eyeglasses and contact lenses, including verifying insurance coverage and obtaining necessary authorizations
- Maintain accurate records of customer prescriptions, orders, and payments
- Collaborate with optometrists and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive eye care services
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification as an Optician is preferred
- Proven experience working as an Optician or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of optical products, including frames, lenses, and contact lenses
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medical coding
- Proficient in using electronic health record systems (e.g., Epic) and maintaining patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to build rapport with patients
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
