Roles and Responsibilities
OVERVIEW:
The Education is Freedom Family Engagement Manageris responsible for developing trusted relationships with a team of cross-functional leaders from EIF and the Dallas Independent School District to support a collaborative EIF and district-wide engagement strategy, with the ultimate goal of building a community of EIF, school, and district leaders that value and support the district’s family engagement initiatives.

Work Schedule
The Family Engagement Manager position is a 12-month contract. The work may be any combination of in-person and/or virtual as determined by Education is Freedom. The Family Engagement Manager must work a minimum of 40 hours a week, Monday through Saturday, during the hours of 8:30 am to 8:30 pm. Some events may call for work outside of the general hours listed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; Masters (preferred)
- Passion about student, family, community and staff engagement
- Proven skills in leadership, group facilitation, marketing, communication, and data collection experience
- Multilingual; Spanish preferred
- At least 2-3 years of community engagement/facilitation/grassroot organizing experience within a nonprofit organization serving underserved or urban communities highly recommended.
- Marketing and communications experience within a non-profit
- Experience managing social media tools such as Facebook, X, and e-marketing tools
- Strong writing, editing and verbal communication skills;
- Strong Microsoft Office skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint;
- Strong design skills in InDesign, Adobe Illustrator and Canva
- Highly organized; ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines;
- Ability to break down complex information into comprehensive parts, ask questions, synthesize and analyze.
- Strong interpersonal skills required to work with a broad group of stakeholders; ability to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to develop a working knowledge of other languages and develop materials that will support ESL families.
- An understanding of and commitment to Education is Freedom.
- Strong preference is given to individuals with career services or event management experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience in presentation of workshops or public speaking.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrate ability to organize and work independently as a leader and as part of a team.
- Must have the ability to effectively interact with faculty, staff, students, parents, and administrators.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Job Duties:
- Manages internal and external relationships to effectively facilitate family engagement initiatives (including partner activities), developing clear, specific, and ambitious performance goals for Education is Freedom’s family engagement initiative.
- Manages continuous improvement of the team and its initiatives.
- Develops and oversees the implementation of Education is Freedom’s and the district’s family engagement policies and standards, and ultimately drives the change management and culture shift necessary for meeting Education is Freedom’s and the district’s vision and goals for family engagement.
- Collaborates with various parent organizations, non-profits, and parent advocacy groups to strengthen family engagement and to ensure Education is Freedom and the district are leveraging the strengths of those organizations that seek to support the efforts around engagement.
- Develops and delivers professional development for key personnel including teachers, principals, front-office staff, and parent liaisons to ensure engagement standards and effective engagement practices are embedded in day-to-day work.
- Compiles and manages budgets and cost estimates based upon documented program needs.
- Ensures that programs are cost effective and funds are managed prudently.
- Creates and implements a consistent feedback loop with stakeholders to solicit input and to assess progress with the engagement strategy and uses information to improve strategy implementation.
- Attends relevant internal and external meetings and conferences to stay informed about latest research and trends; represents the perspective and vision of Education is Freedom and presents specific findings and strategy updates.
- Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed.
- Initiates surveys and other data collection methods to conduct progress monitoring.
- Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.
