Job Title: Service Supervisor, Field Date: Updated December 2021 (w/ Logo)
Reports To: Service Center Director
Summary
The Service Supervisor is responsible for staffing, determining work assignments and priorities, providing quotes, maintaining quality, budgeting, direct supervision of employees, including coaching and performance management, promoting safety and quality, and ensuring adherence to company policies and practices.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, direct and manage the work performed by tech reps to optimize labor capacity, meet customer schedules, and ensure high quality workmanship and customer satisfaction
Manage production with Project Manager on the larger scale projects
Ensure coordination with Quality Manager for all Quality related tasking to include Process Control Procedures (PCPs) and Test and Evaluation (T&I) documentation
Responsible for review and comment of daily service reports and Condition Found Reports by all tech reps
Responsible for scheduling / dispatching of tech reps while meeting customer demand and employee vacation and personal time needs – ensuring visibility across the service center of all assigned employees
Responsible for review and approval of timecards and expense reports of all tech reps
Assess the talent of the workforce and implement an annual training plan
Motivate, mentor and coach the workforce to provide superior customer service
Recommend staffing levels to ensure manpower resources are available to satisfy customer requirements. Participate in recruiting/interview process and make hiring decisions.
Perform performance assessments; recommend merit increases and promotions based upon performance. Develop performance improvement plans or take disciplinary actions as required.
Promote a safe environment for the workforce and address safety issues
Develop a log of standard work and time requirements to complete assignments which may be used to quote future work
Implement productivity improvements through use of more effective tools, training, or improved processes
Assist in quoting service jobs
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
Associate degree in a diesel engine technology program or equivalent experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Course work in Fundamentals of Supervision and Project Management preferred
Minimum 6 years industry experience or 6 years military experience working on medium speed diesel engines
Prefer minimum four years’ experience as FM Field Service Tech
Prefer three years’ experience in a supervisor role in a service environment
Basic foundation in pneumatic, PLC and electronic engine controls
Familiarity with a variety of FM engine products
Excellent communication, problem solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision
Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project; experience with an ERP system (Oracle, SalesForce) is preferred
Travel requirements up to 25%
