Working under routine supervision, in compliance with regulatory, HIPAA, organizational, infection control, and nursing policy and procedure, performs various patient care activities in meeting personal needs of patients in age groups as defined by area of practice:
2 Mother Baby/Obstetrics - predominately neonate and adult, ICU - adult and geriatric with occasional adolescent 3 Medical/Pediatrics, 4 Medical/Surgical - predominately adult & geriatric with occasional child and adolescent. Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Ability to set priorities and manage workload, accepting and completing assignments in a timely manner
- Demonstrates proper technique when lifting, transferring, and ambulating patients for patient and staff safety
- Documentation of care completed in the electronic health record
- Knowledge of procedures for performing assigned functions and explains that care to patient / family
- Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patient and family, anticipating, providing for, and assisting with needs as they arise
- Ability to observe patients and promptly and accurately report changes in patient status to the Registered Nurse
- Ability to maintain calm in emergency situations
- Utilizes excellent customer service standards and Studer principles in communicating with patient, family and coworkers through use of verbal amenities, pleasant facial and body expressions as well as pleasant voice tone
- Ensures work areas and patient rooms are safe, clean and orderly
- Participates in departmental QAPI process and patient experience initiatives
- May be asked to assist with patient care in any area of the hospital, as needed.
2 Mother Baby/Obstetrics performs technical surgical scrubbing skills and responsibilities during operative procedures for obstetric patients during cesarean sections.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
High school diploma or equivalent required. Certified Nursing Assistant by State of Indiana or comparable nursing technician training strongly preferred. Previous hospital experience strongly preferred. Required:
- Basic understanding of behaviors and needs appropriate to age in order to provide age-appropriate care
- Organizational and time management skills
- Good communication and computer skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Accountable for own actions, personal growth and skill development, seeks advice and assistance when necessary
- Maintains AHA BLS.
