Education and Experience: A High School diploma, GED, or higher, and one (1) year experience handling, transporting or storing materials or supplies.
Licenses and Certificates: Some positions may require a Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state. Some positions may require counter balancer forklift <10k capacity certification within six (6) months following appointment.
Special Requirements: Positions requiring a CDL or positions of a safety sensitive are subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with federal regulations.
Under general supervision, assist in the maintenance of adequate supplies inventory for assigned area of responsibility, may provide for counting, coding, recording and classification of city assets.
Provide service, parts and supplies to assigned unit personnel. Involves: Assist mechanics at the service counter to issue maintenance parts as needed. Provide automotive parts to mechanics using designated vehicle parts specification guides. Match and verify merchandise and fuels received with invoices and specifications. Service and make minor repairs to equipment; maintain chemical machines to replenish solvents required to clean parts. Load, unload, move and store materials. Utilize and read technical manuals and access computer programs to identify parts. Stock uniforms and other goods. Assemble or disassemble furniture and equipment, when required. Prepare maintenance repair records.
Order, receive, and inspect for damages, stock, issue and deliver materials. Involves: Order and package supplies for delivery. Contact vendors to identify price and date shipped. Arrange for parts and equipment to be picked up from vendors. Inspect goods delivered for shipping damage. Identify goods that need to be returned and ship items back for credit. Shelve, stack and position stock in warehouses. Stock parts in their respective locations. Issue parts and track receipt. Make deliveries (water samples, payroll and other documents) to assigned areas.
Post expenditures, monitory supply and materials cost, perform routine accounting functions. Involves: Assure Purchase Order or petty cash is available to individuals picking up materials. Post items and charge to accounts, organizational unit, vehicle, employee or other designated category appropriately. Compile data and figures for ordering uniforms.
Count, record, track and classify assets. Identify and correct discrepancies in coding of assets. Identify assets previously not recorded and barcode non-coded city assets. Scan property barcodes and account for assets for fiscal year end. Track City assets, non-expendable property and equipment with a value over $50.00. Track transfers and thefts. Update Asset Reporting System and record type, quantity, location and value of fixed assets. Prepare asset listing, account for shortages and provide accountability documents for lost and/or damaged city assets.
Conduct inventory of assets, parts and supplies in assigned area. Conduct annual or as assigned inventories. Involves: Numerically mark items/apply control labels for inventory purposes. Participate in inventory by locating, and counting/recording items manually and/or utilize bar code reader to assist in inventory process. Maintain cleanliness of warehouse. Adjust inventory records to reflect all purchases, adds new and tracks reassigned property and equipment to inventory. Prepares items and updates inventory of property disposals. Enter inventory data into databases. File reports, purchase orders, requisitions, and work orders. Correct inventory records to reflect accurate stock levels and maintain transaction records.
