As a Territory Sales Manager (TSM) at our company, you'll be at the forefront of our growth strategy, directly reporting to the Director of Sales. Your mission will be to not only meet but exceed our annual sales and growth targets by executing our sales, marketing, and business development strategies within your designated territory.
In this dynamic role, you'll collaborate closely with our distribution partners to ensure the smooth operational management of sales activities. Your key responsibilities will include cultivating and nurturing relationships with both existing and prospective retail partners, employing effective selling techniques to drive growth, and serving as a knowledgeable ambassador for our Victor pet foods line.
We're seeking an individual who excels in relationship-building, possesses a deep understanding of effective sales methodologies, and is passionate about educating customers on the unique benefits of our products. While this role demands a minimum of 50% to 75% overnight travel, it also offers the opportunity to make a significant impact within the pet industry and contribute to the success of our business.

Duties and responsibilities:
- Achieve Sales Targets: Proactively engage with Pet Specialty Retailers across your designated territory to achieve targeted sales revenue from both distributor and retail accounts. Your ability to meet forecasted goals is essential to our success.
- Grow Existing Accounts: Take ownership of maintaining and expanding our existing consumables base, ensuring consistent growth and customer satisfaction.
- Strategic Sales Management: Implement and manage sales campaigns and strategies tailored to your territory, aiming to surpass company revenue objectives and enhance market share.
- Account Development: Cultivate strong relationships with established accounts while actively seeking out and developing new accounts to increase market penetration and drive growth.
- Customer Needs Analysis: Conduct thorough research to understand the evolving needs and preferences of our customers, and effectively communicate these insights to the sales leadership team for strategic planning purposes.
- Presentations and Prospecting: Prepare compelling presentations and leverage your persuasive skills to prospect, pursue, and successfully close new retailer partnerships within your territory.
- Strengthen Customer Relationships: Continuously nurture and strengthen relationships with distributors and retail partners, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and loyalty.
- Trade Show Management: Take charge of managing local trade shows and national events within your territory, maximizing our brand visibility and engagement opportunities.
By effectively executing these responsibilities, you'll contribute significantly to the growth and success of Victor Pet Foods while delivering exceptional value to our customers and partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent practical work experience.
- 3+ years of Pet Specialty Industry.
- Comprehensive knowledge of competitive products.
- Willingness to travel extensively.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Strategic thinker with a relentless drive for growth.
- Strong communication skills, and the ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
This largely self-directed position requires a thorough understanding of company policy, procedures, and values. It will also require adhering to all safety requirements in all work environments. This position requires significant travel and the ability/willingness to travel via airlines and/or vehicle.
Specific physical requirements may include:
- Occasionally lifting weights of fifty (50) pounds or less.
- Occasionally climbing ladders and stairwells.
- Occasionally standing, sitting, or walking for long periods of time.
