We are looking for an experienced line cook to prepare food to the Chef’s specifications and to set up stations for menu. Line cook duties will consist of assisting the chef with their daily tasks and improving work efficiencies. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to our customer satisfaction and acquisition goals for a new vegan startup.
Responsibilities
- Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
- Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables or preparing sauces)
- Cook menu items in cooperation with standard operating procedures
- Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef’s instructions
- Clean up station and take care of leftover food
- Stock inventory appropriately
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Keep workplace and dishes clean
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
Skills
- Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
- Familiar with industry’s best practices
Education, Experience and Skill Requirements
- High School Diploma / Culinary school diploma
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and be able to prevent and/or handle emergency situations.
- A cheerful, positive attitude when working with a variety of people, customers, and be able to work well under pressure.
- Responsible, neat and clean in appearance.
- Strong communication skills with supervisors and team members.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $12.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
