THE POSITION
The Facilities Maintenance Technician performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks related to the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment including AV System, carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs, painting, cleanliness, and tidiness. Also, coordinates and oversees the work of outside contractors, receives and stores supplies, and performs other duties as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Perform semi-skilled and skilled facilities maintenance work involving painting, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs and maintenance of the buildings and facilities. Clean, maintain and repair building fixtures and equipment including locks, windows, doors, carpet, shelving, and furniture. Repair plumbing fixtures, unclog drains and maintain plumbing systems. Make minor repairs to sheetrock and plaster. Paint walls and/or equipment.Replace light bulbs and tubes and repair/replace ballasts.
- Complete facilities inspections and maintenance checklist.
- Track and report on repair and maintenance activities; complete and maintain a variety of records.
- Identify maintenance needs; obtain information needed to define project scope and estimate time, labor, equipment, and material needs.
- Assist with the preparation of specifications for contracts, quotes, and proposals related to the service and repair of the facilities and equipment.
- Obtain quotes from outside vendors/contractors, oversees work performed by outside contractors, and sign off their work. Work collaboratively with outside vendors and contractors in identifying unusual problems and/or maintaining and repairing facilities and buildings.
- Report potential safety problems related to the facilities, clean up spills and unsafe conditions as identified; lock and unlock doors of facilities.
- Receive and store supplies.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and other public using principles of good customer service.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of general methods and practices used in a variety of building trades, such as carpentry, general construction, electric, plumbing, painting, AV system and heating/air conditioning systems.
- Basic computer skills related to data entry/retrieval and use of email.
- Basic principles and practices of record keeping and customer service.
- Ability to bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist when installing, repairing, and servicing equipment; perform simple and power grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation; and lift or carry weight of 50 pounds or less.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
