POSITION TITLE MECHANICAL ASSEMBLY/MACHINE BUILDER/TECHNICIAN
FUNCTIONAL AREA R&B Plastics Machinery, Assembly Floor, Customer Sites
GENERAL OVERVIEW:
Steadily growing custom Plastics Machinery designer and manufacturer R&B Plastics Machinery seeks an experienced and motivated mechanical professional to join our team. The right candidate will possess the desire to be part of a growing company with a spirit of teamwork and cooperation.
DUTIES/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for the mechanical assembly and rebuild of plastic blow molding machinery, single screw extruders, and machine components to company quality standards.
- Properly read, interpret, and utilize detailed prints in the assembly of machinery.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, and repair mechanical problems in blow molding machinery and extruders.
- MUST be willing and able to travel domestically 25-30% of the time to customer facilities for machine installation and/or repair after initial training period. Some international travel may be possible.
- Interface with engineering, department leads, coworkers, and management to complete projects on time and within budget.
- Must be proficient in using standard shop tooling equipment including hand and power tools.
- Perform other shop maintenance/project duties as assigned by management.
- Candidate MUST supply own tools or participate in company Tool Purchase program.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong mechanical assembly, rebuild, and troubleshooting experience needed.
- Experience or familiarity with electrical wiring, hydraulics, and welding are highly beneficial.
- Problem-solving and technical aptitude, self-motivation, and good interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least 3 years of experience in assembling & repairing of plastics or similar machinery is required.
- Must be able to follow direction, work independently, and also work well as part of a team.
- Must be able to safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, man-lifts, and required tools.
- The ability to adhere to all safety guidelines per R&B company policy and OSHA standards is essential.
- This position operates in a manufacturing environment and may be exposed to heat and high temperatures.
- The ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, stoop, kneel, crouch, balance, climb ladders, use hands and fingers, feel or handle; and reach with hands and arms is required for this position.
- Must be punctual, have a strong work ethic, and desire to continually enhance their skill set.

WORK HOURS: FULL TIME: 40 hours/week: 6:00 am – 2:30 pm shift with overtime. Overtime to be expected when working at customer facilities while traveling.
