Contract Duration: 1-year initial term with potential for extension up to 3-4 years based on project requirements.

Project Overview:
Join our prestigious project at the Hanford Vit Plant, the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. This unique project involves the design and construction of a facility to safely dispose of radioactive and chemical waste from historical defense productions. This role directly contributes to environmental protection efforts, safeguarding local communities and ecosystems around the Columbia River.
Position Summary:
The Structural Engineer will be responsible for originating and checking various structural engineering deliverables, including steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions. This role includes reviewing and coordinating technical documents across different engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction teams. The engineer will also prepare technical reports addressing specific design issues and participate in technical meetings, ensuring effective intra-discipline coordination.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited university, or equivalent.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in structural engineering; or 9 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- Passed the Engineer in Training (EIT) exam or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical exam (if located at the construction site), and background check, including verification of employment and education.
- Ability to obtain a Department of Energy badge for site access.
- US Citizenship required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven experience in the detailed design of steel and concrete structures.
- Ability to clearly and concisely communicate technical issues, both in writing and verbally.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (GTSTRUDL, STAAD, SAP2000).
- Proficient use of Mathcad or similar software for engineering calculations.
- Familiarity with ACI 349, AISC N690, ASCE 4, ASCE 7, and IBC codes.
- Experience with CADD applications such as MicroStation or AutoCad.
- Familiarity with engineering deliverables like drawings, specifications, and material requisitions.
- Experience in construction methods for concrete and steel structures.
