MEDICAL ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION
Reports to: Physicians and Clinical Director
Definition of Position: The medical assistant is a multi-skilled health professional thatprovides quality health care to patients by working interdependently with other healthcare professionals. Trained to perform both clinical and administrative tasks in the health care environment.
Responsibilities:
· Greets patients and accompanies them to the exam room.
· Obtains required information prior to patient procedure including NPO status, quality of bowel preparation results, availability of transportation post procedure.
· Obtains pertinent medical history, including medications and allergies.
· Obtains vital signs, temperatures, blood glucose and urine pregnancy tests as required.
· Performs pre procedure teaching.
· Documents competently in the electronic medical record.
· Assists in the control of ASC patient traffic in and out of procedure rooms.
· Maintains patient privacy at all times.
· Understands role/responsibilities in emergency action plans.
· Accepts direction and adheres to established routines.
· Maintains flexibility and performs other duties as required.
· Demonstrates a positive approach to interpersonal relationships with patients, families and other members of the health care team.
· Reports errors.
· Communicates pertinent information.
· Prioritizes daily activities according to ASC needs.
· Uses resources economically: time, effort, materials.
· Wears company provided identification while on duty.
Qualifications:
· High school graduate with related work experience.
· Medical Assistant certification preferred
· Must be 18 years of age at minimum.
· Able to read, write and communicate.
· Able to display a primary interest in providing excellent patient care and maintaining standards of courtesy/friendliness to health care team.
· Maintains BLS certification.
· Able to maintain and comply with patient confidentiality and integrity in all matters.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
