This is a Night Operations position, Mon-Fri. Work hours will be 4:00 PM to Close which is typically 12:30 AM but can extend until 1:30 AM depending on volumes.
California Sierra Express has been serving the air freight logistics industry for over 35 years. We operate six freight terminals in CA and one in Reno, NV. We're an overnight carrier serving international and domestic freight forwarders as a final mile Pick-Up and Delivery agent for shipments that travel around the globe.
You'll be joining a local team of over 30 people all committed to providing the best service possible to our customers who trust Cal Sierra to move their shipments on-time throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
The Operations Coordinator contribute to the effective day-to-day functioning of the station by leading and managing a small team pf warehouse staff, over seeing their daily activities and ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
Accurately monitors and adjusts staffing to match the fluctuation of freight volumes. Contributes to planning the transportation needs for the nightly outbound linehaul trucks. Executes the nightly outbound plan to ensure efficient volume movement, maximizing capacity, minimizing partial trailer loads and ensuring on-time departures to meet next-day delivery commitments.
Will collaborate closely with night operations dispatch to monitor the return of all priority shipments that must be loaded on departing trucks. Ensures smooth operations and efficient function of warehouse.
Conducts quality trailer inspections before loading begins and ensures the warehouse team completes accurate load manifest to prevent missing or left-behind freight. Consistently works on process improvement plans and ideas to create a more efficient operation and fosters effective teamwork. This is a safety sensitive position and falls under federal regulations.

2-3 years’ work experience in a transportation industry.

Knowledge of DOT Transportation concepts, practices, procedures, regulations and best practices.

Ability to manage time, organization and multitasking skills in a fast pace environment.

Ability to shift priorities with a focus on details and accuracy.

Extensive experience in customer services and is able to provide consistent quality service.

Experience with Transportation Software such as Samsara and crown a Plus.

Proficiency in office software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Express.

Knowledge of applicable DOT/ FMCSA transportation regulations and laws.

Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate throughout the organization.

Experience supervising others preferred.
