We are seeking an Interstate Transport Driver to join our team! Operation Kindness is a pioneer in Texas for assisting animals in need of veterinary care, companionship and most of all, a home. This position is part-time (30-40 hours per pay period/bi-weekly).
Working at Operation Kindness is both fun and rewarding! We offer outstanding benefits including vision, dental, disability, and life insurance, a 403(b) retirement plan and generous paid time off.
As our animals require care each day of the year, weekend and holiday availability is a must. We provide 10 holidays per year that hourly employees in this role who work on the holiday receive time and a half pay!
Travel and save animals! Transports leave from Dallas in the evening. This allows dogs to sleep most of the trip as this is what their normal schedule is. Driving at night is also safer due to less traffic on the roads. Transport drivers travel in teams of two for safety and to share the tasks of driving and taking care of the pets on the transport. Transport will stop every 4-5 hours to get gas and check on the dogs and take them for a walk. Drivers will drive for a max of 6-8hrs and then switch. When not driving, they should rest. The majority of our destinations are in the Midwest and as far as Upstate New York. Once the transport arrives at their final destination and hands off the dogs, they will go to a hotel and rest and then head back to Texas the next day.
Between transport drivers will assist with local transportation of animals to boarding or from a shelter. When in town, drivers will have a set work week with days off and not be on-call each day.
