Established by Bill Foley in 1996, Foley Family Wines (FFW) is a portfolio of highly acclaimed wines and spirits from some of the world’s greatest estates. The company owns more than 24 wineries and a distillery, each with its distinct style, legacy, and approach to hospitality. FFW has expanded its portfolio significantly since its founding, now including such storied brands as Chalk Hill Estate Winery, Sebastiani, Roth, Banshee, Ferrari-Carano, Chateau St. Jean, and Lancaster in Sonoma; Merus, Silverado, and Foley Johnson in Napa Valley; Lincourt, Firestone, and Foley Estates in Southern California; Chalone Vineyard in Monterey County; Four Graces and Acrobat in Oregon; and Three Rivers in Washington. In 2023, the company began operating Minden Mill Distilling in Nevada and relaunched Charles Goodnight Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey. FFW’s import portfolio includes Lucien Albrecht in France, Nieto Senetiner in Argentina, and 14 wine brands and Lighthouse Gin, spanning three of New Zealand’s most acclaimed winegrowing regions: Marlborough, Central Otago, and Martinborough.
Job Summary:
At the Four Graces we aim to make rich, complex wines that showcase the quality of our fruit and expression of our vineyard sites. We source grapes from our three estate vineyards situated in different AVAs within the Willamette Valley, as well as several prestigious growers throughout the region. In addition to working with a diverse array of vineyard sites, the Four Graces utilizes aspects of both traditional techniques and modern technology in winemaking, offering potential for plenty of learning opportunities. We’re a small, passionate, dedicated team and we strive to ensure maximum efficiency, safety, and wine quality.
The Forklift Operator will be involved in a variety of cellar duties from harvest through bottling. Applicants must be available without interruption from September through mid-November and willing to work overtime (early mornings, evenings, weekends). This role needs to be proficient on a forklift, previous winery experience not required. A main part of the job will be loading and unloading fruit and dumping bins.
The anticipated timeframe for this temporary position is September– mid-November.
Pay is $23 - $24/hour. In addition to the $500 sign-on bonus paid at the end of your assignment, we also provide some meals!
Previous experience is valued, but we’re willing to train the right motivated individuals. The ideal applicant is dependable, organized, enthusiastic, detail oriented, and self-motivated. You should possess a positive attitude, sense of humor, communication skills, and interest in working on a dynamic team to make great wine in a fast-paced work environment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The Forklift Operator will assist the production team in the following areas:
- Forklift operation
- Winery sanitation
- Grape receiving, crushing and pressing
- Fermentation cap management
- Additions and inoculations
- Racking and barrel filling
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must be reliable, punctual, and engaged
- Accurately follow and complete work instructions
- The ability to work both independently and as a team member
- Understand and comply with all safety requirements
- Perform the physical labor necessary - lift up to 50 lbs, work in various temperatures
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Must have a positive attitude
Experience and Qualifications:
- Willingness to work long hours including weekends as needed
- Previous forklift experience is required
- Cellar experience a plus, but not required
- Candidates must be organized and detail oriented
- Valid driver’s license
- Must be 21 years of age or older
