Job Summary: As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and precision in our manufacturing processes. Working closely with the production team, you will help implement and maintain quality control procedures, conduct inspections, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to meet the rigorous requirements of our fast paced always evolving company. Your expertise in quality control, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence will contribute to LD Redmer’s reputation for delivering high-quality components to our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain quality assurance procedures and processes for operations in compliance with AS9100D.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of manufacturing processes and finished products to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify and resolve quality-related issues, including non-conformances and deviations from customer requirements.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to address quality issues and prevent recurrence.
- Maintain documentation for quality control processes, including inspection records, quality metrics, and compliance documentation.
- Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality procedures, inspection techniques, and quality standards.
- Participate in customer audits and provide support for quality-related inquiries, including responding to corrective action requests (CARs) and quality questionnaires.
- Monitor and analyze quality performance metrics to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for optimization in manufacturing processes.
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of operations.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in aerospace manufacturing quality assurance to ensure compliance and competitive advantage.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience (10+ years) in quality assurance roles within a CNC machining environment, preferably in precision manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001) and familiarity with aerospace industry standards and regulations.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
- Experience with inspection techniques and equipment (e.g., CMM, Vision Systems).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and communicate with customers and suppliers.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and precision in quality control processes.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and experience with quality management software (e.g., ERP/MRP systems, statistical analysis tools).
- CMM Programming is a plus.
