The Floor Monitor plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of our residents within Cushing Manor Rest Home. Reporting directly to the Facility Manager, the Floor Monitor will oversee activities and monitor the overall environment on the premises. This position requires a keen eye for detail, exceptional communication skills, and a genuine passion for caring for the elderly.
Responsibilities:
1. Monitoring and Supervision:
- Patrol designated areas of the rest home regularly to ensure a safe and secure environment.
- Monitor resident activities and behavior to ensure compliance with community rules and regulations.
- Respond promptly to any emergencies or incidents, including medical emergencies, accidents, or disruptive behavior, and take appropriate action as needed.
2. Safety and Security:
- Ensure all doors, windows, and entrances are properly secured during non-business hours.
- Conduct routine inspections of fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and other safety equipment to ensure they are in working order.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety concerns to the Facility Manager promptly.
3. Customer Service:
- Provide friendly and courteous assistance to residents, families, and visitors.
- Act as a point of contact for residents who may require assistance or have concerns.
- Address resident complaints or issues with professionalism and empathy, escalating to management when necessary.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and any notable observations.
- Prepare incident reports detailing any accidents, emergencies, or disturbances that occur during shifts.
- Communicate effectively with management and other staff members to ensure continuity of care and resident safety.
5. Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other staff members, including caregivers, nurses, and administrative personnel, to provide comprehensive care and support to residents.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and performance evaluations as required.
- Foster a positive and cohesive team environment through open communication, mutual respect, and teamwork.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in healthcare, gerontology, or related fields preferred.
- Previous experience working in a healthcare or senior living setting preferred.
- Excellent observational skills with the ability to detect unusual behavior or signs of distress.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with residents, families, and staff members.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations and make quick, informed decisions.
- Basic understanding of safety protocols, emergency procedures, and first aid/CPR techniques.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
