DUTIES:
- Ensure daily plant Quality and Food Safety operations are in compliance with policies, procedures, customer requirements, and local, state, and federal regulations. • Ensure escalation of non-conformance events to the proper operations and corporate QA personnel. • Maintain robust and effective Food Safety and Quality Plans with supporting prerequisite programs. Collaborate with plant and corporate resources to ensure the plant is always at a regulatory state of readiness for BRC. Monitor and make recommendations for improvement. • Manage the Supplier/ Vendor qualification program, Supplier Scorecard ratings and vendor audit to assure continued Supplier conformance to the quality system requirements • Manage the internal quality and housekeeping audits to ensure manufacturing facility conforms to regulatory standard and manufacturing requirements • Lead customer specification management. • Responsible for identifying improvement opportunities, provide support with process documentation and metrics identification. • Manage Hold and Release programs for finished products and ingredients. • Manage the product development projects, including validation plans, verification of the label and shelf life studies • Managing the Supplier Quality metrics such as: Non-Conformance Tracking (MRB) Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) • Manage calibration program to ensure that all equipment’s that require calibration are calibrated on timely manner and adhere to regulatory requirements • Manage standardized operating procedures (SOPs). • Provide ultimate oversight of the plant laboratory operations (staff, training, compliance to the Quality Manual and Methods) for both the fluid and finished product laboratories. • Oversee auditing. Oversee record review. • Manage CAPA systems (Corrective Action/Preventive Actions), Customer complaint and Nonconformance • Maintain quality/food safety related certifications and licenses at the site (BRC). • Implement and oversee Pathogen Environmental Monitoring Program. • Conduct investigations into incidents and quality issues. Document findings, perform trend analysis, and communicate to management, employees, and customers as appropriate. • Monitor needs for capital and expense dollars in support of Quality and Food Safety goals. Work collaboratively with the plant manager to make preventative suggestions. • Measure continuous improvement. • Maintain current knowledge through seminars and industry publications to develop skills and improve job performance. Attend required training, including but not limited to Safety, GMP, HACCP, and Safe Quality Foods (SQF). • Minimum 5 years of experience in food or dairy processing environment, including 5 years of direct supervisory responsibilities • Other duties or responsibilities may be required as needed
REQUIREMENTS:
Education • Bachelor’s degree required in Food Science, Biological Sciences, or related field • Minimum 5 years of experience in food processing, Medical Device or Pharmaceutical environment, including 5 years of direct supervisory responsibilities • Extensive experience in HACP or HACCP certification • Certified Lead auditor • Prior supervisory experience with strong leadership skills • Excellent attention to detail and good organizational skills
Experience • Working knowledge of USDA and FDA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and HACCP is preferred or will train • Working knowledge of CFR regarding Food industry • Previous supervisory experience is also desired • Hands on experience in leadership role in food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance functions in a USDA and or FDA manufacturing environment preferred • Experience working in Quality environment following either GMP or HACCP required • Experience within the food industry preferred • Must be a self-motivated candidate who will take initiative to complete tasks
