Animal Care Technicians are responsible for the cleaning, maintaining, watering/feeding and distribution of medications, vaccinations and microchips (as needed) to any and all animals in the care of HSNBA. Insuring the facility is clean, safe and inviting for the animals in our care and the public.
ANIMAL CARE
*Cleaning all kennels in which animals are being housed, could potentially be housed, or were previously housed throughout the day. Areas open to the public should be cleaned by 10am. Cleaning includes but is not limited to: *Removing all dirty or used bowls and buckets from kennels. *Making sure walkways and drains are clean of all hair, excess food, etc. *Removing all animal waste and spilt food from inside kennels. *Spraying down kennels from top to bottom first with the posted rotation of cleaners. *Returning all cleaning supplies and instruments to their designated storage areas after use. *Large dog run waste cans are to be emptied EVERYDAY. (without exception) *Walkways are to be cleared of all standing water. *All hoses need to be rolled up, rehoused, and shut off completely when a tech is finished using them. *Reporting shortages of supplies, food, etc to E.D. *Reporting any signs of illness to E.D. *Reporting any aggressive behavior ot E.D. *Feeding and watering all animals in the Kennel Technician’s designated zone. *Making a count of all the animals in your zone for both food and water and distributing food and water accordingly. *Periodically make sure every animal in the Shelter has an adequate amount of water to last them until the next day.
CUSTOMER CARE:
*Assist members of the public look for pets – either redeeming their own or for adoption. *Assist Community Service workers with cleaning of kennels and public areas, ensuring they have completed given tasks appropriately
FACILITY UPKEEP
- Insure all public areas, both inside and outside are welcoming to the public – free of pet waste, free of trash.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
SHIFTS
Shifts are 8am to 5pm Monday through Saturday and 8-12 on Sundays.
REQUIREMENTS
Must be available to work AT LEAST 3 full shifts a week.
Must be able to handle lifting 40-50 pounds bags of food/cat litter
Must be able to handle large (60-90 pounds) dogs without assistance
Available shifts and compensation: Available shifts on Sundays. Compensation is $12.00 - $14.00/hour.
