Solis Applied Science is seeking Junior, Senior and Expert level Remote sensing professionals with experience focused on conducting Remote Sensing data and image science. Positions will be located in Northern Virginia area.
Responsibilities

You will be responsible for providing technical consulting and remote sensing/geospatial data processing to support environmental use-cases including for environmental baseline studies, impact assessments, and environmental monitoring programs

Use Landsat, Sentinel, or other suitable imagery, in GEE to map and assess changes in surface water dynamics (1990-2022) across the study region and map key habitats including landcover and vegetation types across the study region

Assess change in those map classes overtime at a decadal time period or otherwise specified by the research group

Utilize geospatial & remote sensing to characterize & monitor environmental conditions for research activities

Evaluate new geospatial & remote sensing technologies for environmental applications such as ecological/biodiversity baseline and monitoring, emissions detection and quantification, remediation site characterization and monitoring, and oil spill/emergency response

Perform remote sensing and geospatial data analysis, modeling, and data processing including development of data processing pipelines to support environmental projects, and R&D activities; examples include:

Experience with inverse modeling

Creating, compiling, and publishing geospatial data layers for environmental properties

Developing data processing pipelines to automate the analysis of open-source and commercial satellite remote sensing data sources

Qualifications
-
5 years of related work experience
-
Bachelors/Master’s degree in Remote Sensing, GIS, Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, Ecology, Geography, or a related field with significant course/research component involving remote sensing/geospatial data analysis

Strong understanding of remote sensing methods and data sources including satellite, aerial, and drone/UAS based capabilities, and applicability to environmental monitoring use-cases

Experience in deriving environmental products from remote sensing and geospatial datasets using Google Earth Engine (GEE) and other COTS software (e.g. ArcGIS, ENVI/IDL, eCognition), and/or open source tools (e.g. Python, QGIS)

Demonstrated experience in managing remote sensing and geospatial projects and data from inception to completion

Experience in identifying issues and interfaces, engaging stakeholders, and facilitating team alignment to develop and execute solutions

Ability to plan and manage numerous tasks within aggressive deadlines to advance strategies and objectives

Ability to interface with industry associations, represent the Hiring Company, learn new best practices, and apply to current and future projects

Intermediate programming skills with Python and knowledge of common geospatial/remote sensing libraries/API’s (e.g

Google Earth Engine, Microsoft Planetary Computer, SentinelHub), and experience in developing data processing workflows

Experience with ML/AI model development and application
