Job Overview:
Mackinac Straits Health System is seeking a skilled and experienced Phlebotomist to join our team. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a crucial role in the healthcare system by collecting blood samples from patients for diagnostic testing. Your attention to detail and adherence to proper procedures will contribute to accurate and reliable test results.
Responsibilities:
* Prepares Specimens and transports to the appropriate locations.
* Responsible for blood draw collections.
* Uses proper identification procedures to label specimens.
* Answers patient telephone calls.
* Monitors lab standing orders.
* Assists with the registration of patients.
* Performs various glucose instrument control testing.
* Maintains inventory levels for supplies within the department.
* Provides clerical support including typing, correspondence, filing, recording, etc.
* Assist lab personnel with daily job duties as needed.
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
* Prior phlebotomy experience required.
* Must be able to demonstrate computer literacy – Word and Excel knowledge required.
* Must possess customer service and strong interpersonal skills.
* Must be organized and able to balance multiple tasks on a daily basis.
* Must demonstrate the ability to adhere to patient confidentiality and regulations.
* Must be detail oriented and adept at record keeping and filing.
* Exemplary attendance record required.
* Must be detailed orientated.
* Must complete ASCP certification within 12 months of hire.
